I received my first diary from my uncle for my First Holy Communion (I went to a Catholic grade school). Many years later, I still keep one. In total, I have about 29 diaries & journals to date.

Writing has always been a cathartic thing for me, and sometimes I think I speak best that way. In 1995, I was blossoming into my political awareness and learned more about injustices experienced by my Pilipina sisters, learned that my being into punk at the time helped get out my frustrations of early childhood feelings of helplessness, and started to realize that I had a voice and that I could use it.

Upon a zine maker friend's suggestion, I slapped together a cut n' paste ditty one night and it became my first issue. It started off as a vehicle to get frustrations off my chest; now it's helped me channel my anger into projects that help bring awareness. My zine has really helped me network with folks, and create lots of dialogue. That is some tasty shit.
